Curuba smoothie recipe

Also known as banana passion fruit, curuba is a delicious tropical fruit with a taste similar to passion fruit. Grown in South America, you can tell it’s ripe when the skin is slightly shrivelled.

It’s often used to flavour desserts like cakes and meringues, but it also makes delicious sauces and drinks, like this smoothie from My Colombian Cocina.

Really simple to make, this is a quick, refreshing way to make the most of this tasty fruit.

Ingredients

  • 10 curubas, cut in half & pulp removed

  • 475ml water

  • 120ml milk

  • 60ml double cream or heavy cream

  • 3 tbsp sugar

  • Crushed ice


Preparation

  1. Start by preparing your curubas.

  2. Put the seed pulp in a blender with the water, then blend.

  3. Strain this mixture and put it back in a clean blender.

  4. Add the milk, cream, sugar and some crushed ice.

  5. Blend again until smooth, then serve.



Tips

To store: We recommend drinking this smoothie straight away.

Vegan: To make this smoothie vegan, replace the milk and cream with soy milk or 3 to 4 tablespoons of soy powder. Just follow these tips from Bogotastic.
