Full of incredible flavours that celebrate the best of Middle Eastern cuisine, this dish is the perfect way to make the most of the holiday.

Overview:

Prep time: 10 minutes

Cook time: 90 minutes

Serves: 4 people


Ingredients:

3 tbsp oil

1/2 medium onion, chopped

1kg Thareed meat with bones

1 stick cinnamon

1 tsp crushed black pepper

1 tbsp ginger paste

1 tbsp garlic paste

1 tbsp Arabic spice

2 liters broth

1 large carrot, cubed

1 large potato, cubed

2 courgettes, cubed

4 small onions, whole

4 pieces dried lemon


Instructions:

  1. Put the oil in a large pan and heat it through.

  2. When the oil is warm, sauté the chopped onion until translucent.

  3. Add the meat and sauté for 10 minutes.

  4. Add the spices and broth, then simmer for 45 minutes until the meat is tender.

  5. Add the vegetables and dried lemon, then cook for 30 minutes, until the vegetables are tender.

  6. Serve hot with Arabic bread.
